2024/2025 Annual Appeal is underway!
Dear SBYSF Supporter,
I hope you have had the pleasure of watching our Santa Barbara Youth Foundation (SBYSF) sailors out on the water of Santa Barbara, their dinghies tacking, gybing, and sometimes even capsizing! These young sailors are out there every week honing their sailing skills, and it is inspiring to see their love for the ocean and sailing. We are so proud to be able to offer this incredible experience to the youth of Santa Barbara through SBYSF.
Here’s what a couple of our sailors had to say about their experiences:
“SBYSF has provided me a great group of people to race and learn from. I look forward to seeing incoming sailors and teaching them the art of sailing and seamanship.” – Taylor (Age 15)
“Hi! My name is Ruby and I am a green fleet Opti sailor. I love SBYSF sailing because I tried hard at sailing and didn’t give up. Sailing is a special sport because it is not like other sports. Sailing is my sport! Thank you for supporting me and SBYSF.” – Ruby (Age 8)
The Santa Barbara Youth Sailing Foundation program is thriving. Our Garibaldi class, which introduces our youngest sailors to the world of sailing in a comfortable environment, is larger than ever. Our Optimist, ILCA, CFJ, and C420 fleets continue to excel. And with the recent completion of our new clubhouse at the base of Marina 1, we are positioned for even greater success.
This success is thanks to all of us - the supporters of youth sailing! While our program is partially funded through tuition payments in conjunction with a strong and well managed endowment, we rely on generous annual contributions. The money raised from this year-end giving campaign will support the following:
(1) Coachboat: $40,000
Replacement RIB Tubes + Installation: $12,000
(6) Sets of Club 420 Sails: $9,500
(4) Club 420 Masts: $7,600
(8) Club 420 Spinnaker Poles: $3,500
(1) Hydraulic Steering Kit: $2,500
(24) Dolly Wheels: $1,750
Total: $76,850
We invite you to join us in supporting this effort. A remittance envelope is enclosed for your check or you can donate online at www.sbysf.org/donate.
Thank you in advance for your continued support of Santa Barbara Youth Sailing.
Together, we’re keeping the spirit of sailing alive for the next generation!
