This result qualifies him for the 2020 USODA Team Trials.
SBYSF optimist sailors took up a lot of room on the podium at the USODA West Coast Championships (held at Cabrillo Beach). Great sailing by Blake Behrens (1st), Aston Smith (2nd) and Carly Kieding (9th). Carly also took out top girl for the regatta! All three have now qualified for the 2020 USA Team Trials.
Team SBYSF wins the 2019 CFJ Class National Championship!
For the second year in a row, Team SB wins the Nationals and has two teams on the podium!
Congrats to 2019 CFJ Nationals Champs: Blake Behrens and Richard Rychlik Jr. Shoutout to Liam Andresen/Jon Seawards for placing 3rd overall and Zoey Ziskind/Claire Wicker for finishing 7th!

We are congratulating SBYSF Sailors Zoey Ziskind and Svenja Leonard for winning the C420 and inaugural 29er Fleet at the Jr. Women's Doublehanded Championship! Commonly known as the Ida Lewis Trophy, this event draws the top youth women's talent from across the United States.
Zoey and partner Katharine Doble of California YC, sailed remarkably consistent to win the event by one point! Svenja and partner Adra Ivancich won five of nine races to claim the 29er Fleet in it's first appearance at the Ida Lewis!

Team SBYSF had a phenomenal showing at the US Sailing Junior Olympics @ ABYC in Long Beach. Our sailors raced for three days against the top talent in Southern California. At the end of three great days of sailing, we stood on the podium in three classes!

SBYSF head coach Jack Barton ran a successful High-Performance Optimist Clinic on June 7, 8 and 9. A small group of top-performing opti sailors from the Southern Californian region, including several US National Team members and invitees to International events participated. Youth Sailing and development is alive and well in Santa Barbara!
We are congratulating SBYSF Sailor, Liam Andersen, who finished up the final U/F Series here in SB to place fifth overall in the series. The final regatta was run by the SB Sailing Club and featured light to moderate breeze.
The Ullman/Frost Series is the SoCal Laser and Laser Radial Series. 27 races were contested for the overall title.
SB Earth Day Festival
SBYSF will be present at the Santa Barbara Earth Day Festival this Saturday from 11am - 6pm!
Come on down to Alameda Park and drop by Booth #209 for miniature sailboat races as well as entering in our drawing to win a free learn-to-sail Summer Camp (valued @ $375).

SBYSF Lemonade Clinigatta
What: The first rendition of our learn to sail clinigatta (clinic and regatta) series! New sailors will be taught the basics of sailing under the guidance of our professional coaching staff.
When: Saturday, May 18th from 9:30-3:30 pm
Where: SBYSF Dock (located at the beginning of Marina 1 near break wall)
Who: Enthusiastic kids aged 6-11 who are interested in learning to sail! No experience necessary!
